Independent Living Specialist (RCIL) Job Summary:Under general supervision, responds to and triages all information and referral calls for core service areas such as housing, personal care, transitions back into community living, benefits, skills training, environmental modification, employment services, peer supports, and advocacy. Duties and Responsibilities: - Refers individuals to appropriate services both within and outside the agency - Documents all direct and indirect contacts with consumers using a computerized program. - Provides outreach to people with disabilities in the community. - Participates in agency sponsored events and advocacy actions. Required Knowledge and Skills: - Candidate must have a strong commitment to promote and advocate for the full integration of individuals with disabilities. - Fluency in Spanish or bi-lingual is a plus but not required Education and Experience: - Associates Degree in Human Services required. - Three to five years of experience working with or advocating for persons with disabilities preferred. - Knowledge of community based services and public benefits systems desired.
